In the heart of Navarra, in the Valdorba mountains, a small town survives depopulation by coping with everyday problems.
A mare farmer, Jaime, has just acquired an animal with which he wants to breed and grow the herd, but shortly after the mare enters his stable, he falls ill with an infection in one of its legs that seems to be neither recent nor reversible. Sara, the valley vet, can only advise Jaime to sacrifice the animal; a discouraging situation that complicates his already difficult situation at home with his dependent wife of years. A situation that will become overwhelming and unbreathable for Jaime in a constant moral dilemma.
